Australia Day Weekend Carnival
Smoking guns and clay birds breaking greeted spectators at the Albany Clay Target Club on the weekend as more than 60 shooters competed in the 2 day carnival.
Shooters came from all over WA, some as far away as Geraldton and including former national champions, all converged on Albany to compete in the 6 championship rounds held over the weekend.
The overall high gun champion was a close fought battle with only 1 point separating eventual winner Neil McWhirter 346/350 from James Hamilton 345/350. Other high gun winners were Amanda Stokoe in the ladies with 294/350, Tim Catling in the veterans with 331/350 and junior shooter Steven Baker 292/350.
Great weather made for excellent shooting with 3 championships rounds held on the Saturday, and most grades had to have a shoot off to find the eventual winners.
